Ive never shared this on here before, but as I was reflecting on pillars in my life that have been major events/moments where God has shown up and been so real, this journey came to mind. My photography journey stared with a project my senior year of High School 08-09’. One of my closest friends, Kelsey Vines was PASSIONATE about photography. She loved taking people out to shoot, and on one occasion or two I helped her scout locations for shoots. I had always thought it would be a fun skill to learn, and grew up wasting my parents money taking pictures on disposable cameras of my baby dolls 🤣. When senior year rolled around, I knew I wanted to do photography for my senior project!! The first two weeks of school were in full swing, and Kelsey brought her point and shoot camera to school every day. I’m pretty sure she had taken pictures with someone almost every day those first two weeks. On September 2nd, 2008, Kelsey and I took our last picture. I keep this photo out as it constantly reminds me the importance of what I do. The importance of pictures. After Kelsey’s passing, I knew I wanted to dedicate my senior project to her. @kbedz agreed to mentor me and give me a few lessons with a camera. We took my closest girl friends out for a shoot. The Friendship Quilt was the final outcome for the project. It is full of pictures that have TERRIBLE colors, weird compositions, inconsistencies, odd lighting, and a whole lot of love & purpose. 💕 This book was the start of my journey with photography, and Kelsey is a constant reminder of “my why”. Why it matters. why photography is priceless, valuable, and meaningful. The bee in my logo is intended to be a symbol/metaphor of Kelsey’s story. A story MUCH greater than this... a story full of grief and Joy, tragedy & victory, a story full of Gods promises & faithfulness. Kelsey taught me many things, and the simple power/message of “I love you” was one of the greater lessons 🤟🏻... but I will forever be grateful to share a love for photos, & have the opportunity to share parts of her vibrant life and powerful story through ALLEEJ. 🐝 Jesus has been in it all, and although things don’t always make sense, He always redeems.
Had lunch with these two yesterday, and some other amazing people who will be helping officiate / sing for their ceremony (one of those being my husband!) to dream and talk about their ceremony. I woke up thinking about it this morning & have been so excited for them since we chatted. When couples are intentional about their celebration, & have vision for their ceremony that’s full of purpose and intentionality, it makes all the difference. October 6th is going to be a beautiful day y’all. I can’t wait to meet Jesus there, and see Him move and unite these two in the covenant of marriage. His story of redemption and purposes in uniting them as one will move mountains for His Kingdom! 💕

Praise God for Rain!!! It’s so exciting to see rain in the forecast. What’s also exciting is I’m not even worried one bit seeing rain on Saturday, because my bride is getting married at @eberleybrooks & it is just as beautiful indoors as it is outdoors! What a fabulous venue & such a blessing for couples (and vendors). This morning, I’m going to be sitting on the porch, coffee in hand, and enjoy these cooler temps 👏🏻. Who all is ready for a new season? I have yellow already falling out of my trees and it makes me giddy.
I am loving these summer/early autumn senior sessions!! The weather is BEAUTIFUL outside, the blooms are plenty, the grass is green, and excitement is in the air! Anna Jane is on the blog today and her Monday morning session is giving me life! So much fun. Go check it out. Throwback to last summer with my Hazel girl in Charleston, SC. It’s been so fun to see how much she’s grown in a year, & how much her personality has developed! This girl keeps us laughing, our hearts melting, and is currently talking more and more about “baby Jett” which has me all kinds of excited. Hopefully she isn’t too sad when he gets here 👀. She loves pictures, music, and Minnie Mouse, and has us pretty much wrapped around her finger... you know.. until the stank face pops out. If you’ve seen it, you know what I’m talking about 🙈.
Soooo who watched this season of #thebachelorette ?! 🙋🏼‍♀️ I want to know your thoughts on tonight’s episode. Also, who do y’all think will be the next bachelor ANNDDD will you be watching #bachelorinparadise ? 🙈 y’all, this is the trash tv I watch, and for some reason I’m so invested this season. Following all of the contestants on this silly app doesn’t help. Don’t judge.
Happy Sunday, everyone! I’ve never introduced myself on here, and thought today would be a good one to say hello!! 👋🏼••• My name is Alexandra Lee Joplin - scrunch that together and you get “ALLEEJ”. Most of my clients call me Allee, and I love it. My family calls me by my name or goes for something short like, “Al”. ••• I’m a born and raised Lubbock-ite, Texas Tech Grad, Pi Beta Phi Alumn, proud wife to @dustyjoplin (of 6 years) ❤️, and mama to my baby girl “Hazel Joy Joplin” - and little boy that’s growin’- “Jett David Joplin”. Today we officially hit the third trimester mark!! 🎉 My due date is October 28th, and I’m excited and terrified all at the same time. We fostered Hazel when she was 8months old before adopting her last October, so we’ve never done the newborn thing! It will be an adventure, haha, and a learning curve, but we’re just gonna role with it. ••• we have two dogs 🐶 : Sophie, our rescue -Australian Shephard mix // Endy, our playful golden retriever! They keep my house full of hair, but we love them. ••• I started my photography business in 2010 and have been specializing in wedding & senior photography since 2013! The bee in my logo holds a very special meaning and story 🐝 & is a big “why” behind what I do. ••• I love to travel, host people in my home, make things beautiful & inviting, inspire connection & meaningful conversation, am a sucker for a good candle, have a weakness to resist sweets, and am a 4 on the enneagram. I’m personally enjoying learning how to love people better through the enneagram. So tell me, what’s your number?! 🤗
