Ashley + John English
October 6th, 2018 was a truly magical day. Wedding days are full of unexpected moments. You plan, you prepare, and things don’t go exactly as you envision… but when Jesus is in it, there’s a peace and a heavenly grace to make some sweet lemonade out of lemons. That’s just what this day was full of. Heavenly moments, abundant grace, and a peace that was so tangible. Ashley and John planned to marry out on John’s family land in Jud, Tx. It’s a bit in the middle of nowhere, and plan B wasn’t really an option… so the impending rain that showed on the radar was a worry of family/friends of the couples leading up to the big day; however, John and Ashley both had such a faith about what the day would be like. The rain wasn’t going to get in the way, and I can honestly say, it didn’t!! Their hearts and their main desire was to honor the Lord with all they did on this day. They wanted to celebrate what HE has done in their lives individually… to allow their love to bond together in unity, which has allowed them to take this next step into a covenant marriage to honor the Lord with their lives and love as one.
As John and Ashley got ready for the day, a beautiful rain covered the ranch land, and Ashley had a view of the Brazos river as she got ready to see her father and her groom for the first time in her wedding dress.
The first look time came, and Ashley had John’s father, escort her to see her daddy for the first time. It was a tearful and sweet moment between this precious bride and her dad. Then came time for Ashley’s first look with John. He just couldn’t wait and pre-maturely turned around to see Ashley, (which made us all giggle) but it was perfect! As soon as these sweet moments passed, the calming rain stopped and allowed us to get some beautiful photos around their ceremony area!! Y’all, my second shooter, Emily, and I, were SO blown away at how present the Holy Spirit was. Everything was so calm and peaceful… just truly so special to witness and capture.
Ceremony time came, the sun peaked out through the clouds just above their blooming cross, and Ashley made her way down the isle as the song “this is living” played. The lyrics go…
“See the sun now bursting through the clouds
Black and white turns to colour all around
All is new, in the Savior I am found
This is living now
This is living now
This is living now”
You lead the way, God You're right beside me
In Your love I'm complete
There's nothing like living with You
This life You created I choose”
Heaven collided with earth. John received Ashley as his bride, and the two vowed their lives and love as one.
It was beautiful to witness.
Then came time for the party!! The bride and groom danced their first dance in the rain… and I just felt like it was such a bright picture of their life together, their love, their story… and this mantra of making lemonade out of every situation and curve ball that comes their way. These two have big Kingdom tasks in store for them, and Christs love is their banner. I can’t wait to see the adventure they go on with the Lord as their guide… truly “living now” as colour of life bursts all around them as they love and serve those around them.
Their adventure starts NOW with an amazing honeymoon to FIJI!!! Ashley & John, have an incredible time in paradise!! Love you guys so much - Congratulations, my friends!!
